PROFESSIONALLY GUIDED FLY FISHING

CLASSIC GUIDED FLY FISHING ON MICHIGAN'S BEST TROUT WATERS

"THE COUNTRY'S BEST FLY FLY FISHING..." Field and Stream

BOOK YOUR TRIP WITH THE REGION'S BEST FLY FISHING GUIDES!

Orvis Streamside is Traverse City's oldest and most complete fly shop. For nearly two decades we have outfitted Traverse City's most avid fly fishing enthusiasts. Orvis Streamside offers a complete guide service for classic fly fishing on some of the country's finest self-sustaining trout streams. Guides are available for full day and half day float and wade trips on "flies only" waters of the Manistee and AuSable Rivers, as well as the beautiful Boardman, birthplace of the Adams fly. Wild rainbow, brown and brook trout are the catch and release quarry using dry fly, nymph and streamer tactics. Although trips run all year on the "flies only" water, favorite hatches include the Hendricksons and black caddis in May, sulfurs, brown drakes and isonychia in June, and the famous hex hatch in late June and July. Late July and August terrestrial, trico, and baetis fishing rounds out the summer. Aggressive Fall spawning browns chase large streamers and attracters in September.

Downstream, late August turns the guides' attention to Lake Michigan coho and chinook salmon. This migration of large fish culminates in October with a fall run of steelhead. Steelhead fishing continues all winter and peaks with the huge Spring run of steelhead in March and April. These enormous 8 to 15 pound lake-run rainbow trout draw anglers from around the world. Guides utilize traditional sink tip, indicator or, if you prefer, "chuck and duck" methods to land silvery sticks of dynamite. Guides float and wade the Betsie and Platte Rivers for salmon and steelhead. Our Orvis Streamside guides are not only expert anglers and fly fishing instructors, but also great people who you'll enjoy spending the day with.

Orvis Streamside offers highly trained, knowledgable fly fishing guides to float you on Michigan’s best trout waters. Spring steelhead, fall salmon, or Michigan’s famed "hex" hatch are just a few of the highlights that await the serious fly angler. Not only does Orvis Streamside have its own quality guides and Orvis Michigan Fly Fishing instructors, we can also put you in touch with some of Michigan’s finest Orvis Endorsed Guides, Orvis Endorsed Guide Services, Orvis Endorsed Lodges, and Orvis Endorsed Outfitters. The Orvis Endorsed Guide, Outfitters and Lodge program is world reknown and only a phone call away.
